According to Jim
Streeter, APLS chairman, “Ron Foster joined the Avery Point Lighthouse
Society shortly after the group was established in year 2000. He
subsequently became an important part of APLS, and within a few years, was
unanimously elected to the position of co-chairman of the Society.”
“For the next five
years Ron was instrumental in all of APLS’s activities, which ultimately
resulted in the complete restoration and relighting of Avery Point
Lighthouse.”
“Ron never
hesitated to step forward to offer his time, effort and lighthouse knowledge
in helping APLS save, restore and relight Avery Point Lighthouse. In plain
words, the project would not have been as successful without Ron Foster –
and he is deserving of his prestigious award from the American Lighthouse
Foundation.”
