A new sign depicting Little River Lighthouse that
welcomes people to Cutler Village has delighted maritime and lighthouse
enthusiasts alike.
The sign was the idea of Cutler’s 4th of July
Committee, whose members felt there should be something to welcome

area of the village of Cutler, which is a small fishing community of
friendly people in ‘Downeast’ Maine.
The 4th of July Committee, which paid for the sign, approached
Cutler artist, Pam Britton, to submit several designs that would represent
the community. Britton produced several sketches for the committee to choose
from. The historic and now restored lighthouse, which sits on a 15-acre
island in Cutler’s harbor, was the design chosen.
Britton said, “I was extremely honored to be chosen to design and paint the
new sign that expresses the historical significance of the lighthouse to the
community.” She is also delighted with all the compliments she has received
about the completed work of art.
