Minnesota artist Randall Peterson has donated an original
Pointillism artwork of Little River Lighthouse, valued at $1,600 to the
Friends of Little River Lighthouse in Cutler.
The original framed artwork is a pen and ink drawing
created in the style of pointillism and is hand-done by dots rather than
drawn by sketch. The original work of art is 8” x 10” and is

signed by the
artist and framed and matted in a 16” x 18” frame.
As well as donating the original artwork, Peterson has printed up 975
limited edition prints that are all signed and number by the artist, of
which 250 of the prints are being donated to the Friends of Little River
Lighthouse. Peterson also donated 1000 bookmarks with the artwork to the
group.
The Friends of Little River Lighthouse are now selling raffle tickets for
the artwork at $1.00 each or six for $5.00 to help raise money for the long
term care of the historic lighthouse that is located on a small island off
Cutler’s picturesque harbor. It is hoped that enough tickets will be sold by
the August 9th Little River Lighthouse Benefit Dinner, which will be held at
the Bayridge Elementary School, so that Peterson can draw the winning name
that evening.
Peterson and his wife are flying in from Minnesota to Maine to take part in
the first ever International Lighthouse Challenge, “Lights Across the
Border,” that is being hosted by the Friends of Head Harbor Lighthouse on
Campobello Island, the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse Keeper’s Association in
Lubec and the Friends of Little River Lighthouse. The event is a self-guided
tour that is open to the public.
Raffle tickets for the original artwork are available from Cutler residents:
Ruth Farris, Judy Corbett, Cynthia Rowden, Hal Biering, Dave Corbett,
Marilyn Murdock, and Irene Fitzgerald at the Little River Lodge in Cutler.
They are also available from Tim Harrison or Kathy Finnegan at their office
at Lighthouse Digest, 985 Cutler Road in Whiting.
