Exterior of Keeper's House at Little River
Light Station Receiving Attention

Throughout the 2005 work season at Little River Light Station, much of
the focus has been placed on restoring the interior components of the
former keeper's dwelling, including such projects as addressing the
structure's ceilings, staircases, floors, doors, plumbing and electrical
needs.

With autumn upon
us, it might seem like the work season has all but wrapped up for the year,
but that is not the case at Little River. The American Lighthouse Foundation
is now working hard to fund a project to safeguard the dwelling's exterior
before another harsh Downeast winter grips the region. "The extensive
exterior renovation of the keeper's house at Maine's Little River Lighthouse
has now started," says American Lighthouse Foundation president Tim
Harrison. "This includes the replacing of rotted clapboard, rotten nails,
full scraping and painting of the entire exterior."
