Chocolate and You” event in South Portland, Maine, on January 21st.
This isn’t the first time Lexis has showed her support for the American
Lighthouse Foundation’s preservation efforts. In fact, she has been a “star”
participant in this kids program for a few years now. Lexis talks about what
it means to her personally to help save lighthouses by collecting quarters…
“I got started collecting “quarters for
lighthouses” when my grandparents brought home quarter books from Maine. Now
I like collecting because I like hunting around the house for them. Also, I
like knowing that I’m saving lighthouses and helping rebuild some of them
and their history. Lighthouses are a big part of history.
I think this is a good way for kids to help
with lighthouse preservation, because it is easy and fun. I enjoy going to
lighthouses with my grandparents, and climbing them too. I’ve met a lot of
nice people who love lighthouses like I do. My favorite lighthouse is Avery
Point Lighthouse in Groton, Connecticut.”
