Hadley
Volunteerism Award’ for their dedicated volunteer contributions
in 2009.
According to Jim
Streeter, NLLLF vice-president and ALF 2nd vice-president, “Recently the New
London Ledge Lighthouse Foundation of Connecticut became a new chapter of
the American Lighthouse Foundation.”
“Over the past
year and a half the New London Ledge Lighthouse Foundation has developed a
new found energy, and has subsequently elected several new and progressive
members to its of board of directors.”
“In January 2009
Todd and Marcia Gipstein became members of the board. Little was it known
then that they would become two of the most important members of the board.
Their energy and desire to help with the restoration of the lighthouse is
unmatched.”
“Prior to their
becoming members of the board, NLLLF had floundered in their fundraising
efforts. Without hesitation, and almost single-handedly, Todd and Marcia
organized a 100th Anniversary Gala event for New London Ledge Lighthouse.”
“The event was
attended by over 200 people and drew interest from throughout the community,
and after the dust settled, the event had raised close to $25,000 for the
lighthouse.”
“Thanks to Todd
and Marcia, the lighthouse restoration process is now becoming a reality.
They are most deserving for the American Lighthouse Foundation ‘Len Hadley
Volunteerism Award.’
