1772 Foundation in Elizabeth, New Jersey, which the American Lighthouse
Foundation received in the fall of 2005.
The Newport Harbor Lighthouse, which sits behind the Hyatt Regency Hotel on
Goat Island in Newport, Rhode Island, has been a popular site as a backdrop
for weddings held on the grounds of the hotel. The American Lighthouse
Foundation and its chapter – the Friends of Newport Harbor Light, plan to
utilize the 1842 granite beacon in the future for periodic educational public tours
once safety enhancements have been made at
the lighthouse.
