Volunteerism Award’ for their dedicated volunteer contributions in 2009.
According to Marty Welt, FPPL chairman, “Caren has been a key person in the
Friends of Pemaquid Point Light Chapter since it was started in 2003. From
the beginning, she has handled all the financial responsibilities, even
before we began to function with a full board of directors.”
“Officially Treasurer of the board since 2005, Caren is the backbone of our
financial administration. She receives all of the yearly donations to FPPL
from our 120-plus day season. Caren also verifies daily donation totals,
receives mail donations, makes deposits, invests in CD's, pays bills,
monitors budgetary items, charts weekly charitable giving trends, provides
required reports to ALF, and handles the many details of the Treasurer
position.”
“In addition, Caren designs, produces and distributes name badges for our
docents. She updates, produces, and distributes our annual volunteer
directory, which provides important information for docents, and has been a
leader in fostering ways for FPPL to thank our volunteers. Recently she
designed attractive polo shirts for our docents, then ordered and
distributed them.”
“Caren has been one of our longest serving and most dedicated docents, even
willing to volunteer for the not so very popular Sunday afternoon time
period. She also trains new docents by having them join her during her
scheduled shift to see how she does it. After her volunteer shift at the
lighthouse each week, Caren can often be found cleaning the lighthouse steps
and lobby.”
“Everything that Caren does with and for FPPL, she does with enthusiasm,
whether interacting with visitors, other docents, ALF or other board
members. Caren is truly most deserving of this award.”
