professional
testing and analysis of the masonry coatings and the development of removal
methods to be used in the exterior restoration of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.
Building Conservation Associates of Dedham, Massachusetts has been
contracted by the American Lighthouse Foundation to perform the on-site
testing and analysis at the lighthouse. The work is to occur during mid-June
2007, prior to the commencement of the exterior restoration of Pemaquid
Point Light.
“Having the opportunity to obtain more knowledge of the existing coatings on
the lighthouse is invaluable,” says Bob Trapani, Jr., ALF executive
director. “The analysis is going to enhance the vital consultation process
with the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, as well as provide the
project’s contractor – J.B. Leslie Masonry Contractors, with full confidence
that we did our ‘homework’ when it comes to positioning the restoration
project for success.”
The American Lighthouse Foundation wishes to express its appreciation and
gratitude to the Maine Historic Preservation Commission for awarding the
organization with this generous grant.
The overall $105,400 restoration project at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in
2007 has been made possible in part by this matching grant from the Maine
Historic Preservation Commission through the “New Century Community Program,
a statewide cultural initiative funded by the people of Maine.
