Woburn, Massachusetts.
It was, in fact, a lighthouse kind of evening with heavy, blinding rain
hampering our drive north from East Providence. But not to worry, given the
warm atmosphere of our meeting hall and the genuine fellowship generated by
those gathered for the occasion, all enjoyed themselves.
On a side note about our FPRL volunteer honorees, I find it ironic that
David was Rob’s school principal when Rob lived at Pomham Rocks Lighthouse
with his parents some years ago.
In their own way, both men are well connected with the East Providence
community and each brings contacts, passion and zeal that stand them well in
our collective lighthouse preservation effort.
Both are self-starters, individuals with many talents and abilities who are
innovative and willing to step into the breach of need – always, only a
phone call or email distant.
David Kelleher, an active Pomham board member since day one, has worn many
hats for our group and continues to do so, whether with community lighthouse
education efforts, monetary chores, event planning, membership matters,
corresponding for our organization, community liaison, promoting grant
initiatives, and on-and-on it goes, and in the end, an avid lover of Pomham
Rocks Lighthouse and lighthouses in general.
Rob Charbonneau, another board member, is a cut of the same pattern, a
passionate lover of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse. Rob brings his own gifts to the
lighthouse preservation effort, with an intimate knowledge of the lighthouse
property.
Rob has spent his entire life on Narragansett Bay, loves the bay and loves
boats and the restoration of boats. He has made our travels to and from the
island much easier and bearable by providing boat transport. Those trips are
essential to the general maintenance and inspection of the property – and
without question, most necessary as this project continues.
Rob is also an innovator and idea person, and is capable with the practical
skills and contacts to bring his ideas and visions to reality.
Each individual maintains hands on the pulse of the local community, while
each, in his own way, including our Pomham preservation effort, is a vital
link toward our corporate success. Congratulations to both David and Rob!
