News Flash from the North Pole – Pomham Rocks’ Lighthouse Santa Spreads the Joy of the Season in

East Providence, RI!

East Providence, RI:

Tis the season for the jolly ole fellow in the red suit to spread the joy of Christmas with others, even if its means foregoing his traditional means of transportation in favor of watercraft in order to greet excited onlookers from shore along the Providence River.

on the morning of 12/6/08 to spread the

 joy of Christmas

Lighthouse Santa and his hardworking elves took to the water on December 6, 2008 to celebrate another Christmas season with members of the community and to help raise public awareness for the 1871 Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, which is being restored by the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation.

“Pomham Rocks’ Lighthouse Santa’s northern Narragansett Bay visit today was a grand success,” said Don Doucette, aka Lighthouse Santa. “High tide, calm seas and sunny weather made for a superb trip, and Santa’s elves excelled with all their work, including keeping us on schedule.”

Lighthouse Santa also noted, “The crowds were appreciative of our efforts – one excited child even climbed a tree to wave at Santa and his elves as our parade of boats passed by.”

Until next year, remember to keep the Christmas spirit in your heart year-round and help keep Pomham Rocks Lighthouse ‘shining,’ because as we know, Santa is watching and he will return!
