volunteer contributions in 2009.
According to Don Doucette, FPRL chairman, “Florence (Flo) Quigley is any
volunteer organization's dream. Flo is known in her community as a ‘people’
person with positive energies to match. She has brought these traits to the
Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse (FPRL) from the beginning of the Pomham
Rocks Lighthouse restoration effort. Flo is a very thoughtful and caring
person who has devoted her life to working for and with people.”
“She has ably cared for family members during the years including her five
children, and as Dave Kelleher relates, ‘her career as a teacher's assistant
in special education was most noted by her deep commitment to ‘her’ kids.’”
“Flo has also long been involved with many volunteer activities and
organizations within the local community, and participates with great
enthusiasm and commitment. She is a willing worker who can be counted on in
many ways - the term ‘self starter’ applies here.”
“As for the FPRL, Flo has been an active member of our Events Committee
since the group’s founding. Thanks to Flo, tables at our cruises and dinners
have been made more attractive through her efforts. She actively and
successfully canvasses for new members and encourages friends to attend our
fundraising functions. Flo also cooks and bakes for our pot-luck suppers and
public meetings, and fills the roster wherever a responsible volunteer is
needed.”
“Flo is known and respected in her community as she willingly brings her
many gifts and talents to the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse. She
remains for the FPRL a steadfast volunteer ‘worker bee’ with pinches of good
cheer generously blended into the mix for good measure.”
