After selling
more than $1000 worth of tickets over six months, the Friends of
Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse (a chapter of the American Lighthouse
Foundation) held a raffle drawing at the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of
Commerce office on Monday, December 18.
The grand
prize was a detailed, working 29-inch-tall replica of Portsmouth Harbor
Lighthouse, created by Steve Wright of
in Yorktown Heights, New York. Other prizes
included a bronze relief plaque of the lighthouse created by Rhode
Island sculptor
, and a large framed photo of the lighthouse by
of Dover.

individuals. “The support we received for this raffle, both in terms of
donated prizes and tickets sold, was very gratifying,” said D’Entremont.
“We’re also grateful to the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce for
displaying the prizes for several months. Thanks to them, tickets were
bought by visitors from around the country.”
Friends of
Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse cares for the historic 1878 lighthouse in New
Castle, also known to locals as Fort Point Light. The group had the 80-foot
wooden walkway at the lighthouse rebuilt in September. Eight public open
