Harbor Lighthouse Announce

 Raffle Winners

After selling more than $1000 worth of tickets over six months, the Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse (a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation) held a raffle drawing at the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce office on Monday, December 18.

The grand prize was a detailed, working 29-inch-tall replica of Portsmouth Harbor  Lighthouse, created by Steve Wright of American Lawn Lights in Yorktown Heights, New York. Other prizes included a bronze relief plaque of the lighthouse created by Rhode Island sculptor Jim Gomes, and a large framed photo of the lighthouse by William Marshall of Dover.

The winning tickets were drawn by Chamber of Commerce staff. The

Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse cares for the historic 1878 lighthouse in New Castle, also known to locals as Fort Point Light. The group had the 80-foot wooden walkway at the lighthouse rebuilt in September. Eight public open houses and other events are in the works for 2007; you can check www.portsmouthharborlighthouse.org for details.
