The American Lighthouse Foundation honored 15 outstanding
volunteers on November 7, 2009 during the organization’s annual
Lighthouse Gala & Volunteer Awards Dinner at the Nonantum Resort in
Kennebunkport, ME.
The 15 individuals, including Nikki Nunes of the Cape Cod
Chapter, received ALF’s ‘Len Hadley Volunteerism Award’ for their
dedicated volunteer contributions in 2009.
According to Jim Walker, Cape Cod Chapter chairman,

Nikki Nunes
“Nikki is the ‘glue’ that holds
our operation together at Race Point Light Station. She gets paid to be our
reservation agent, but also volunteers her time and expertise to the
chapter, records our meeting minutes and is an important part of everything
we do.”
“Nikki also maintains our stoke of cleaning
supplies, paper products, etc., for the overnight stay program at the
lighthouse, and she and her husband

Bernie make it a point to consistently
visit the lighthouse to take an inventory of supplies – and then
replenish them as needed by going to stores in Hyannis – a two hour
round-trip from the lighthouse.”
“And if that wasn’t enough, Nikki also makes sure that
all the hand and bath towels at the
lighthouse are fresh and clean in between their regular washing cycles.
Nikki is most deserving of ALF’s ‘Len Hadley Volunteerism Award.’”
