exhibits a flashing (2 flashes…one at 1 second
intervals and the other at 3 second intervals) white light every 6
seconds from a focal plane of 77 feet above the water and visible 8
nautical miles. The lighthouse is equipped with a foghorn, which

Historical Notes:
The lighthouse
was first lighted on January 23, 1905 and was originally equipped with a
third order Fresnel
lens…A fog bell went into
operation on August 28, 1905…The light was
electrified in 1958 by means of an underwater cable
extending from Portland Head…In January 2001 the light was converted to
solar power.
