Breakwater Lighthouse in many capacities. He has long been the group’s historian, co-writing a history book on the lighthouse, which has wide circulation.”

“Ted currently serves as the group’s project coordinator for lighthouse restoration projects. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the successful completion of the painting of the interior of the keeper’s quarters in 2009, as well as the repair and restoration work done on the boathouse, doing a lot of the prep work and/or finishing touches himself.”

“Additionally, he contributed significantly to a productive running of our lighthouse challenge event, in both the planning and execution stages. He also managed to find time for docent work at the lighthouse several times over the course of the season.”

“Ted is not just an advocate for Rockland Breakwater, but for all lighthouses, and he is also substantially involved with the Maine Lighthouse Museum, as well as other lighthouse-related activities in the area.”

“For his untiring work with the Friends of Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse, and his passion for lighthouse preservation and education, Ted Panayotoff is selected to receive the 2009 Len Hadley Volunteerism Award.”
