"Light" Thoughts...

Welcome to “Light” Thoughts…

One of the most exciting and unique aspects of lighthouse preservation is how history and present day activities are inseparable as we work to save America’s lighthouses for the future. Being able to review interesting and important facets of lighthouse history is vital to gaining a better understanding of what occurred before us and how we should best act in the present to enact preservation and education initiatives. Just as important is the ability to analyze the best practices and challenges the lighthouse community collectively fasces in the present with saving our nation’s lighthouses – and not forgetting to be that encouraging “voice” for organization’s navigating the changing waters of lighthouse preservation.

“Light” Thoughts is such a platform where history and present day activities that are relevant to lighthouse preservation and education come together with an engaging and thought provoking approach. Wickie's Wisdom by American Lighthouse Foundation president Tim Harrison, Message in a Bottle by ALF executive director Bob Trapani, Jr., and Life at the Lights by ALF historian Jeremy D’Entremont are intended to address these facets of history and present day issues or best practices important to lighthouse preservation.
