State of Maine
Be
it known to all that We, the Members of the Senate and House of
Representatives, join in recognizing the Museum of Lighthouse History,
of Wells, on the occasion of the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the museum
expansion on August 7, 2005, National Lighthouse Day. The Museum of
Lighthouse History is dedicated to the preservation, educational
interpretation and promotion of America’s rich lighthouse heritage. It is
owned and operated by the nonprofit American Lighthouse Foundation. The
Grand Opening of the newly expanded museum on National Lighthouse Day is
meant to honor these stately beacons on our shores that have guided and
protected our country since our nation’s inception. Maine’s nautical
heritage is rich in these structures and we acknowledge the importance of
this grand opening. We send our best wishes to the Museum of Lighthouse
History on this special occasion; And be it ordered that this official
expression of sentiment be sent forthwith on behalf of the 122nd
Legislature and the people of the State of Maine.
