non-profit organization based in
Rockland, Maine, adopted a new logo, which will become the focus of the
organization’s branding efforts associated with its lighthouse preservation
and education mission in 2008 and beyond.
The American Lighthouse Foundation (ALF) is the caretaker of twenty historic
lighthouses throughout New England from Connecticut to Maine and is
supported by a nationwide membership base that shares the organization’s
passion for saving our nation’s rich lighthouse heritage.
The new logo, which is designed in the form of a swallowtail flag, contains
the colors red, white and blue. The logo also incorporates an American flag
to signify the organization’s national status, as well as a lighthouse with
a Fresnel lens to convey ALF’s efforts to help keep lighthouses “standing
tall and shining bright” for present and future generations.
“I am very excited about the new ALF logo,” said American Lighthouse
Foundation president Dot Black. “The logo conveys who ALF is in a
beautifully simplistic way.”
Jeremy D’Entremont, ALF 1st Vice-President, echoed Black’s sentiments,
saying, “An organization's logo is a very important component of its image.
I feel that ALF's new logo has a clean, crisp look and immediately conveys
what we're about -- preserving American lighthouses.”
D’Entremont went on to say, “I also like the fact that the lighthouse in the
logo
is not recognizable as a particular lighthouse because we're dedicated to
lighthouses in general, not one in particular. And, importantly, this logo
will look very sharp on clothing and other merchandise.”
