The exterior painting and restoration of
Nauset Light was started on September 15, 2005 and completed in October
by J. Goodison Co., Inc. of East Providence, RI. It has been a long time
coming (as someone remarked) but, thanks to our committee members, Sarah

Korjeff, Richard
Ryder, Glenn Stockwell, and Pam Nobili, who spent countless hours
researching, drafting specs, and working with the National Seashore and the
various companies who submitted proposals for the work, all the paperwork
was finalized and the project was carried out as planned.
The scope of the project included sealing and resurfacing the deck,
repairing and replacing the railing as needed, and prepping, caulking and
painting the exterior of the tower. Scaffolding was erected and the
tower totally encased in vinyl. Although the vinyl prevented visitors from
following the day-to-day progress, it did keep the area cleaner and prevent
the paint from blowing onto neighboring surfaces. All workers were required
to follow safety procedures and wear proper protection.
The lighthouse will continue to be open for tours on Sundays from 1-4 p.m.
until October 30.

Nauset Light receives a
fresh coat of paint
After this work has been completed our next projects will
be replacing the exterior door of the light, restoring the oil house,
and restoring the interior of the light itself. Our heart-felt thanks,
of course, go to our members for their generous support, which has made
all of this possible. Without them, none of this would have happened.
ThankYou!
