Monhegan from 1910 to 1920,
and Tenants
Harbor from 1920-1921, before being assigned to Little River in 1921 where
he served until 1939 when the U. S. Lighthouse Service was dissolved. Neil
has shared many of his stories of lighthouse life in numerous media accounts
and his family has been active in helping to raise funds and awareness for
the American Lighthouse Foundation’s restoration efforts of the historic and
remote Little River Lighthouse where restoration has been a challenge.
Previous stories about Neil can be found in past issue of Lighthouse Digest
or their web site.
If you’d like to send Neil a card congratulating
him on being the oldest citizen of Cutler, Maine, and the
recipient of the gold handled cane, you can write to him at:
Neil Corbett, P.O. Box 372, Cutler,
Maine 04626.
If
you’d like to include a donation to the restoration of the lighthouse you
can make the check out to the Friends of Little River Lighthouse.
Also of special mention would be
Neil’s wonderful wife, Allie, who has been very ill of late. We are positive
that “Thinking of You” or Get Well cards and letters would be welcomed to
Allie Corbett, P.O. Box 372, Cutler, Maine 04626.
Remember, you don’t have to know them to send cards, you can simply mention
you are a friend of lighthouses or lighthouse preservation or a supporter of
the American Lighthouse Foundation.
